Description
The Town of Morrisville hosts an annual Diwali Festival in honor of the holiday in celebration of the holiday season and our community's diverse culture. Diwali, one of the largest holiday festivals in India, includes hands on activities, music, food, and fireworks.
Parking
There will be no general event parking on site. Event attendees are directed to park from designated off-site parking locations at 808 and 909 Aviation Pkwy. Shuttles will be running continuously from both locations for the event. The only on-site parking will be accessibility parking.
Accessibility Parking
On-site parking will be available for individuals displaying a disability placard. Attendees in need of accessible parking will be directed to the designated accessibility parking lot upon arrival to the event.
Diwali is India’s biggest and most important festival of the year. Typically celebrated in October or November, the festival celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and the human ability to overcome. Diwali is known as the “festival of lights,” thanks to the practice of lighting oil lamps and decorating homes and cities with strings of twinkling lights to symbolize the victory of light over darkness.
Typically, Diwali is celebrated with food, fireworks, colored sand, and special candles and lamps. The festival is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and some Buddhists, reflecting the substantial religious diversity of India. But everyone is welcome to participate in this festival.
