The Cary Chamber of Commerce held the awards ceremony for its annual Honor A Teacher program Monday evening at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Cary Chamber Members sponsored the $1,000 awards presented to thirty-two teachers from all across the Cary Area. The awardmoney is a token of appreciation for everything these teachers do and can be spent however the recipients choose. The program continues to grow every year, this year there were over 150 nominees honored at the ceremony.
The Honor a Teacher program was founded in 1991 with the Discovery Award for Excellence in Teaching sponsored by the Ashworth Family, and continued to grow with the Clara Knoll Award for Excellence in Teaching sponsored by The Mitsch Family Foundation. The Cary Chamber of Commerce facilitated the selection and distribution of the $1,000 teaching awards for Cary Area teachers, in the tradition of the Discovery Award. Sponsorships are available now for next year’s program.
